Introduction

The Association of Hungarian Literary Memorial Houses (MIRE) was founded in 2008 on the initiative of the Petőfi Literary Museum to support the preservation, modern operation and development of literary memorial houses.

The association also provides professional support for the establishment of new memorial houses, the organisation of new exhibitions and related scientific research.

Our aim is to build up a network of literary memorial houses, to participate actively in the shaping of local and regional social events, and to work closely with schools to ensure that each memorial house is a living cultural synthesis of its community.

MIRE seeks to build links and make the best use of the potential of the Houses of Remembrance, both nationally and across borders. In this work, we want to involve all individuals and institutions committed to the future of literary memorials.
